In Oxford a campaign has been organised since 2008 to keep open, take over and now reopen Temple Cowley Pools. The organisers believe it is one of the first covered pools built outside London in the 1840s. It disappeared at some point, and was rebuilt in the late 1930s as a municipal baths, then rebuilt/extended as a 25m competition pool in 1985/6. Oxford City Council closed the pool in  December 2014, and the group is still working to get it open again.
