Background to the publication

The name of the journal changed over the years as did the name of the organisation publishing the journal.

Baths and Bath Engineering (March 1934 – February 1941) ‘The Official Journal of the National Association of Bath Superintendents’.

The practical and only British Journal devoted to the Design, Construction and Maintenance of; Public Swimming and Private Baths, Bathing Pools, Medical and Curative Baths, Spas, Pit-Head Baths, Wash-Houses and to the Treatment of Bath Water.

Baths Bulletin (October 1941 – April 1949) ‘Issued by the National Association of Bath Superintendents’.

The Baths Service (June 1949 – July 1966) ‘The Journal of the National Association of Bath Superintendents’. From 1962 ‘The Journal of The Institute of Baths Management’.

Baths Service (August 1966 – December 1977) ‘The Journal of The Institute of Baths Management’.

Baths and Recreation Management (January 1978 – March 1990) ‘The Journal of The Institute of Baths Management’. From 1979 ‘The Journal of The Institute of Baths Management’.

Recreation (April 1990 – April 2011) ‘The Magazine of The Institute of Baths Management’. From 1993 ‘The Magazine of the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management’.
