Institute of Sport & Recreation Management
The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management changed its name over the years to reflect the evolving nature of the industry and the profession its members represent.
The organisation was formed in 1921 as the Association of Bath Superintendents (A.B.S.). Names changed as presented below;
National Association of Bath Superintendents (N.A.B.S. 1931 to 1961)
Institute of Baths Management (IBM 1962 to 1979)
Institute of Baths and Recreation Management (IBRM 1980 to 1994)
Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (ISRM 1993 to 2011)
In 2011 the organisation merged with the Institute of Leisure & Amenity Management (ILAM) to form the Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (IMPSA)
This organisation gained Chartered status in January 2012 and became the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

Baths and Baths Engineering
Published from March 1934 to April 1941, Baths and Bath Engineering – The practical and only British Journal devoted to the Design, Construction and Maintenance of; Public Swimming and Private Baths, Bathing Pools, Medical and Curative Baths, Spas, Pit-Head Baths, Wash-Houses and to the Treatment of Bath Water. (Number 1 Vol 1 March 1934 to Number 78 Volume 8 January – February 1941)

Baths Bulletin
Following the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939 publication of Baths and Bath Engineering was suspended. The National Association of Bath Superintendents continued to publish a Baths Bulletin. This publication was sent direct to Association members from October 1941 to April 1949.

The Baths Service and Baths Service
The title of ‘Baths and Bath Engineering’ was changed to ‘The Baths Service – The Journal of The National Association of Bath Superintendents’ in June 1949. (Number 78 Vol 8).

The organisation changed its name in 1961 and so the journal adopted a new title to become; ‘The Baths Service – The Journal of The Institute of Baths Management’.
The name of the publication was changed in August 1966 to become ‘Baths Service’.
Baths Service & Recreation Management
In January 1978 the Journal changed its title from ‘Baths Service’ to ‘Baths & Recreation Management’.
