The National President made mention of employing suitable staff. The London Evening News of 6th May 1955 brought the position to the notice of the public in an article headed; “Your life’s in your hands as too many Swimpools”. “Even worse is the fact that among the large percentage of unqualified attendants there are many who cannon even swim”.

The address from the National President included the following: “Today no fewer than 311 local authorities possess bathing establishment, but at least a third of this number were built during the 18th century and their ages range from 60 to 100 years, and ion some case over a century.”
