I cannot believe that after all these Years I have been researching my family tree that I have just found out that my boss at the C.C.P.R. (Central Council of Physical Recreation) is/was a 1st cousin 1xremoved via his wife Gladys, nee,Booth, whose mother was my Grand Aunt Mary Ann Hogg,b. 1870 d. 1944 in Leeds, husband was Harry Booth.

My first job on Leaving School, 1958, was with the CCPR as a junior Clerk, in Mount St.,Manchester, we moved to Brazennose St., Manchester I Married in 1961 and then left to have my 1st child in 1962 – those were my ‘good Old Days’ when you had to go and ask the boss for a pay rise, and nobody else knew what you were earning, by 1961, i was earninG £2.10 and was given 10/- spending money up to the day I was married!! A PAIR OF STOCKINGS COST THAT MUCH THEN !!
